***COPIED FROM MYSPACE***
Yeah, SO i know I never really use this blog very often, or myspace for that matter, so I've decided to just make up for it by writing one thorough entry to make up for any lack of effort in the past...(whatever, i'm really just doing this because i want to).
Now, for those who have any minescule thread of interest in me or as to what i've been up to since graduation, this is for you; otherwise, you're probably better off spending your time doing something else.
Ok, well the reason why I don't really use myspace to it's greatest potential anymore( i just sign in every now and then to check mail, thats it.) is because i've fallen victim to an entirely new poison very similar to myspace called facebook(i'm sure many of you are familiar with it). I converted because everyone in college uses facebook, so I suppose i'm a victim to conformity. Myspace seems now to be how I keep in touch with people i knew in high school. I heard a statistic in college saying how students without a facebook usually have on average, .5 higher of a GPA than those who do. Anyway, thats irrelevant so forget i mentioned it.
Well now that i've gotten all the unnecessary introductions out of the way, i'll start rambling about my hyped experience at USF. WOW, yeah college is, needless to say, different than high school on an entirely unexplainable level; more different than I imagined. The new sense of autonomy and freedom, being away from home in an entirely different environment(especially for those who decided to attend school out of state, kudos to you), actually being CHALLENGED in academia(thanks CHS for your contribution in this), the list goes on and on. Overall, i'll say right now it was a good experience and I don't regret doing it; going to SPC would have been like an easy way out. (no offense to those who go to SPC, i just think I made the better choice)
College classes aren't impossibly hard, if thats what those of you who haven't experienced it are thinking. It just takes more of your time, since you have to take your exams, and unlike high school, the consequences for bad grades WILL bite you in the ass, especialy if you're looking at grad school or whatever. The worst part of college so far has been living there, not really because I missed being home, but the dorm was pretty shitty, seriously. I had to share a bathroom (3 toilets, 3 showers, 5 sinks) with 30+ dudes, none of them I knew, and I shared a room with a complete stranger. My roommate turned out to be an easy going enough guy, although he never bothered to clean up his side of the room; luckily though he was cool i'm sure it could have been worse. You had to walk all the way down the hall just to take a shower or use the toilet, and even though the bathrooms were cleaned daily, Lmao it wasn't enough. The bathrooms got pretty sick pretty fast. The rooms were small and dingy, but the cool people I met who lived on my floor made up for it. I was planning on rooming with Brad Barnett, whom i'm now rooming with in a different building this fall. I dunno, something got screwed up and I had to live with a stranger. It was good, although I really would rather not do it again.
The meal plan thing was kind of a dissapointment, basically what the meal plan was is you pay the school like 500-$1500 so you have access to two cafeterias which offer what I would describe as pretty mediocre food at best, on a two semester contract. In addition, you get Bull bucks(yes usf has a great sense of humor), which depending on how much you were robbed of in the beginning, it goes to your student account so you can go to about 6-7 different on campus restaurants that serve better food. The funny thing about USF was that there were so many racial stereotypes present, in the employment there. about 80% of the cafeteria workers were black, almost ALL the custodians who cleaned the dorms and the buildings were hispanic, and most students who had the meal plans were white. So when you went inside the cafeterias, it's like seeing a bunch of black "slaves" serving white kids meals at minimum wage. Sadly, i'm sure most of them probably couldn't afford to lose their job, with the economy in its current state and everything. The good thing about the meal plan was easily accessable food at almost any time (exception 2am-7am, which is a more significant time bracket in college than you might at first think)
Right now i'm registered as a pre-business major, but almost all of my classes have been general ed classes that are required for everyone anyway. I've taken some interesting classes, public speaking was great, i highly recommend; easy A and it helps you gain confidence speaking in front of other people(obviously, right?). Ancient history II was a total joke, the professor was interesting, this lady who happened to be a professional archaeologist, who actually dug in the roman forum, which I guess undoubtably helped her secure her job as a professor there. She was a bit of a "character", if you know what I mean. Excessive vulgar language certainly made her lectures very "colorful" and entertaining, especially when it came to sexuality and women in ancient Rome.
come to think of it, the essay on the final exam was on "ancient MILFs", and I am in no way stretching the truth.
Yeah, this is getting pretty long, so I'm sure not many people are going to end up reading this entire thing, if you've read this far then I think you're pretty awesome. I've gotten better at guitar, I met a guy named connor who plays guitar as well. We've started a band called "the fallen", and we jam out at his house in the middle of the forest, more like the middle of nowhere, or otherwise commonly identified as Plant City. So far his friend Brandon and his little bro are the drummer and bassist, all three of them are pretty cool guys. We're looking for a vocalist. We should be getting a myspace up eventually. We've done some covers, most notably paranoid by black sabbath, for whom the bell tolls by metallica, falling down by atreyu and now we're working on an A7X song. Connor really wants to do ONLY METAL...METAL METAL METAL. thats what he loves.
I like metal alot too, but the other three of us want to do some other stuff too, like a mix between metal and rock with clean jazzy stuff, maybe some red hot chili peppers sound. I think I used to be alot like him, but I've grown to like alot of different kinds of music over the past year, dave matthews band, boston, RHCP, and some others are different kinds of bands i'm into now. If we end up doing only metal, I hope we don't end up sounding like some crappy death metal stuff, positive music is just as good and important to balance as negative music, in my opinion.
Ah, so i've met alot of interesting people, alot of very attractive girls as well. I hung out with this one girl to study for a test who was WOW, yeah pretty hot. But definitely not my type. Alot of girls there are the kind of wealthy and i dont want to use this word but "popular" type? Yeah, so they're into guys who know how to throw a football really hard, have a superiority complex and spend all their free time working out. This one guy who lived on my floor had the worst world of Warcraft addiction i've ever seen; the guy just simply couldn't get off the game. He practically almost wasted away, i think at some points he stopped showering and eating decently.
. Yeah he was a nice guy though, at the end of the semester me and his roommate wrote on his dry erase board that he "died from overdose of the craft" with a little picture of his tombstone and an epitaph "he just wouldn't stop playing".
And...presently i just finished my second semester of college, so i've got about 30 credit hours under my belt, which is great. I'm back home in clearwater until august 23rd, when i have to move back to tampa for the fall. If you want to hang out or something, lemme know, since it's looking like i'm not going to be employed this summer i'd love to hang out with old high school friends.
So......anyway, i'm sure i've probably spilled enough out of myself for one night. There's alot more to tell, but I'm going to call it a night, no need to write my own autobiography and post it on myspace. Thanks for reading, even if you skimmed through.
